The tasting notes are fairly accurate, though I felt there was a stronger toffee or caramel flavor upfront, before finishing with accents of vanilla, sherry, and spice. I wouldn't turn it away, but it isn't my first choice since I found it a bit too sweet.
My dream dram (and woman): rich and elegant. Caramel. Waffle. Absolutely terrific.
Nose: Rich, moderately malty heavy on the dried fruits, mainly raisin and dates
Palate: Very sweet, the flavors match the nose, with raisins and dates. The sherry cask comes out nicely on the tongue. Spiciness really pops as it moves towards the back.
Finish: Loooooong, I'm still tasting this minutes after my last sip.
Solid. Rich but smooth. Would drink again.
It smells great right off the bat, very sweet. However, the initial taste for me, was a harsh ethanol wave that overpowered any other of the subtle tastes. Once I settled in, it was okay. Not something I'd buy for my home, but I wouldn't turn my nose up if it was offered at a restaurant or friend's house.
